Kubbestol

The kubbestol is a chair made from a solid log. For our kubbestols the finest basswood logs are secured from the forests in our area. The raw logs are hollowed, shaped, and seasoned. When fully seasoned (which takes about two years) the Kubbestol blank is shaped to its final form and carved, each with an original design.

We welcome suggestions from you to help us design the pattern. Phillip or Else will draw a design on the chair blank and send it to you for your approval.

We have produced more than 200 such chairs to date. Though somewhat primitive in concept, these chairs are shaped and formed to be comfortable to sit in.

This kubbestol is our family heirloom. We call it: The 4 Generation Kubbestol. The tree grew on the Odden Farm, and were tended by Phillip's grandfather. His dad, Milton as well as our son Tor Ole along with Phillip did the carving.

We can create a special chair for your family too.

Phillip likes to illustrate stories on some of his chairs. This one is from Norse mythology, and the God Tor fishing for the world serpent.

Some kubbestols are large enough to allow for arm rests.
